THE NATURE OF THE COMPLAINT. ISP LETTERS ARE IN WHITE

IT APEARS THAT CENSORSHIP NOW RULES HERE

I have no objection to you reproducing my comments but you can not post the

personal attacks on the complainant

Dear Sir

Do we no longer hold with freedom of speech in this country anymore?
The letters were posted as recieved, I have nothing to hide and I feel that
visitors to the site should be aware of all the actions performed on the
site and the reasons why.
Surely by complying with your last request there is no copywrite laws now
been broken?
If you insist I will remove it, but it destroys all my faith in what the
internet was originally designed to do. ie Interchange of ideas and freedom
of speech.
I await your comments
Best Regards
Mike Cornish

Mike,

We do not actually want to close your site, but we do need to protect
ourselves from the possibility of becoming involved in litigation.

The complaint is pasted in below, please can you remove the poem mentioned,
this will resolve the situation

"I am the author of 'My Cyber Friend' which is on my
site along with authorization for usage at:

THIS ADDRESS HAS BEEN CENSORED BY ISP SORRY

A Freeserve member MIKES FANTASY PAGES at
http://www.cornish45.freeserve.co.uk/ has my poem on
the site at:

http://www.cornish45.freeserve.co.uk/thoughts/unseen.htm

My poem is listed on a Greeting Card index at the same
site here:

http://www.cornish45.freeserve.co.uk/menu1.htm#menu

At first I signed his guestbook thanking him for using
the poem as he had it in it's proper form and credited
to me, but then I began to look over more of his site,
and on the entrance to the site
(
http://www.cornish45.freeserve.co.uk/) it is stated:

THIS SITE CONTAINS ITEMS THAT MAY OFFEND YOU.
IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED YOU ARE ADVISED TO TURN
BACK.

So I emailed at the address available on the site and
asked that my poem be removed immediately.  I only
allow my poem at totally child safe sites.  I have had
no repsponse to my request.

My proof of authorship is on my site.  It has been
publised in the Poetry Guild 1997 and at Blue Mountain
Arts on the net here:

THIS ADDRESS HAS BEEN CENSORED BY ISP SORRY

I obtained my registration for this poem from the
Library of Congress, on May 21, 1998:  TX 4-886-528.

Dear Sirs

Ref Copyright Complaint

I find it rather strange that someone has complained to you over this
matter. I personally  have not received any correspondence at all from the
supposed owner of the copyright . I would be interested to know what on that
page they are suppose to own as copyright, and have they certified proof of
ownership? The drawing on the page I can prove were done by myself in 1988
the original files are open for inspection. The background is a standard
black the midi "that's what friends are for" is in the public domain The
words were sent to me by a friend in 1997 and were used on another website I
had then. If the problem is the words then provided the complainant can
prove that they own the copyrights I will willingly give them full credit on
the page for them, as I have with many of the poems on the site.

This site is getting at least 20000 hits per week over 6 million in the last
year if you wish to remove it from your server then that is your prerogative
however it will take it quite a lot of pleasure from the numerous people
that are kind enough to visit time and time again. Surely in the interest of
freedom of justice and speech a compromise can be reached?

I will be interested in your comments and those of the complainant who I am
more than willing to discuss this matter with if they would mail me.

Yours sincerely
M.J. Cornish
